What the term really means
A Google Search mode for complex questions and generative answers with supporting sources.
How it works in practice
AI Mode supports follow-up questions, which shifts attention from one keyword to the full context of a user need.
The decision to make before implementation
Content should address likely follow-ups and lead to verifiable sources without being written solely for one current Google interface.
How to verify that it works
Compare topic visibility, citation presence and visitor quality; a screenshot of one generated answer is not evidence of a durable result. Compare results with an agreed baseline and review routine cases, difficult exceptions and human hand-offs separately. A practical AI Mode test should have an owner, a review date and a recorded example of an outcome the team will not accept.
The PAR HOUSE Agency approach
We approach AI Mode from the workflow rather than a tool demonstration. Content should address likely follow-ups and lead to verifiable sources without being written solely for one current Google interface. We then build a small measurable scope, record assumptions and expand only after quality review.
