What the term really means
Metadata describing the origin and edit history of digital material to help assess how it was created.
How it works in practice
Content Credentials can record authorship, capture device, edits and generative-tool use in a form that can accompany publication.
The decision to make before implementation
Missing credentials do not prove falsity, and present credentials do not prove a scene is true; they are provenance evidence, not a verdict.
How to verify that it works
Check whether metadata survives export and publishing, remains accessible to viewers and is not stripped by the editorial pipeline. Compare results with an agreed baseline and review routine cases, difficult exceptions and human hand-offs separately. A practical Content Credentials test should have an owner, a review date and a recorded example of an outcome the team will not accept.
The PAR HOUSE Agency approach
We approach Content Credentials from the workflow rather than a tool demonstration. Missing credentials do not prove falsity, and present credentials do not prove a scene is true; they are provenance evidence, not a verdict. We then build a small measurable scope, record assumptions and expand only after quality review.
