What is the EAN number for?

The number improves sales, warehouse management, data exchange with wholesalers and publishing offers on trading platforms. After scanning the code, the system can recognize a specific product variant, its price and stock status.

The EAN number should be assigned to a specific product. Changing capacity, color or set may require a separate number. Official numbers are assigned under the GS1 system.

The most common mistakes

The most common mistake is using EAN (European Article Number) without matching the recipient or business process. Another problem is the lack of data, too quick assessment of effects and leaving the solution without a person responsible for maintenance. Each implementation should have an owner and clear quality criteria.
