Content SEO

Start with the decision a piece of content should help the reader make. This reduces generalities and identifies information needed before an enquiry, purchase or implementation.

Define the answer's scope

The brief identifies the reader, question and intended outcome, as well as what remains outside scope. A beginner's guide needs different explanations from technical documentation.

Gather evidence before writing

Use verified data, demonstrations and team experience. Distinguish conclusions, examples and estimates. Place a source beside a claim it actually supports.

Build a logical sequence

Answer the main question first, then explain conditions, an example and the next step. Headings describe their sections. Do not add paragraphs simply to make an article longer.

Review the whole page

The title, description, illustration and links should promise the same content. Editing includes mobile and language versions. Correct grammar is insufficient when a translation changes a term's meaning.

Assign maintenance ownership

Give the resource a subject owner and a reason for its next review. Product or process changes require content updates. Changing the date alone does not update the information.
