Link acquisition strategy

A useful link appears when another website has a reason to recommend a resource to its readers. Strategy starts with valuable material and a relevant relationship, rather than a list of random domains and a target link count.

Build something worth recommending

This could be a reliable guide, tool, dataset, documentation or original analysis. The resource states sources, scope and date. A promise of promotion cannot replace quality.

Choose relevant recipients

We identify organisations, experts and publishers for whom the topic is useful. Any contact explains specific value. We do not automate bulk messages pretending to be personal relationships.

Separate editorial decisions from commercial deals

Publishers decide independently whether to cite a source. Advertising, sponsorship or provision of a product requires appropriate identification of the relationship and link. We do not hide a linking condition in a contract.

Avoid spam mechanisms

Google lists purchasing links for rankings, excessive exchanges and automated link creation as examples of link spam. We assess the process rather than only the individual domain.

Documentation: Google Search Central.

Measure result quality

We examine source relevance, visits, use of the material and relationships formed. We do not promise a specific position. A partnership register helps preserve correct link qualifications.
